Zoobie Woobie

The Cityville zoo has always been a remarkable place where families used to congregate in amazement of the ferocious and seemingly wild animals.  Many children throughout the years were taught about the many different animals and the habitats that they existed in.  Unfortunately, the Cityville mayor has made many budget cuts and the zoo has had to close.  The evil mayor has forced the zoo to return some of the animals to their natural habitat.
Carl the bear has spent his entire life in the cityville zoo.  Carl has always been fed at the same time every day.  He loves the food that the people bring to him so much that he will go and sit at his favorite eating spot in anticipation.  Unfortunately, Carl is one of the animals that will be released back to the wild.  The mayor doesn’t understand the effects that this will have, especially on Carl the panda bear.  Carl has no idea what the wilderness is, but at the same time he feels like it will be a better place for him.  Normally, when Carl releases the brown stuff, someone always comes and cleans it up.  “This wilderness stuff is kinda weird.” Says Carl to himself.  “I should probably wait for the people to come clean up the brown stuff.”  Carl begins to wait for the people but after hours of waiting, the people still hadn’t come.  “Help!” cried Carl.  “HELP!!!”  Carl continues to yell but gets no answer.
Demetrius the owl has been happily sleeping in his tree all day when he hears the grumpy howls for help from Carl, “HEEEELLLLLLLP!!!”  “Hey there you crazy bear!” yelled Demetrius.  “What’s with all the noise?  I’m trying to sleep and you’ve woken me up!”  “I’m from the Cityville zoo and the people aren’t coming to clean up the brown stuff.”  Demetrius the wise old owl realizes what his friend is saying.  This poor bear doesn’t know how to live in the wilderness.  He doesn’t know where to find food and his basic necessities’.  “My friend, there are no people out here in the wild to help you.”  Said Demetrius.  “You must learn your basic instincts.”  “Do you know where to find food Carl?” asked the owl.  Carl realizing that all this talk about food has made him very hungry.  “Demetrius, I have always had food brought to me!”  “These look good enough to me!” Carl said as he reached down and grabbed some brown fluffy plants from the ground and started eating all of them he could find.
“Carl, my friend, bears eat berries, honey, and fish.  Bears love to go fishing.  There is a river not too far away from here that is a great fishing spot.” Said Demetrius.  “Fish do sound mighty good right now Demetrius.”  Said Carl.  “I loved it when the people brought me fish.”  “They are so good that I could eat them all day!” Carl moaned.  Something magical then started to happen.  All this talk about fish and eating has made Carl feel really strange.  Carl then, in disbelief sees a magical unicorn appear out of nowhere.  “My name is Fluffy, what’s your name?” the unicorn said to Carl.  “Want to race me to the river?”  “I love to race my friends!”  “Can we be best friends?”  “What did you say your name was again?”  “My name is Fluffy!”  Fluffy the Unicorn wouldn’t stop talking.  Carl then realized that this unicorn was a big chunk of meat that would satisfy his hunger.  “RRRAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRRR!!!!!”  Carl then yelled louder than he had ever had before.  “No! Carl, bears shouldn’t eat those at all!” yelled Demetrius.
The chase was then on.  Carl began to chase the annoying unicorn and started running faster than he had ever run before.  He didn’t know he could run this fast!  Carl felt stronger than he had ever before also!  He was so hungry though, he just had to catch this unicorn.  Demetrius, who had still been rambling on about what bears do and how they act, realizes that his new friend is heading towards the river.  “Now, Carl!  Fishing can be harder than you think!”  Demetrius yells to Carl as he flies to catch up.
Carl the bear is gaining ground on this very delicious unicorn running just a few feet in front of him.  Carl’s instincts have increased so much since eating that light snack earlier.  He realizes that as soon as he can successfully eat that he will be able to survive out here in the wilderness.  He will know what it is like to be a wild bear.  To be free.  The roaring sound of white river rapids comes to Carl’s attention.  “Racing is FUNNN!!” Yells Fluffy the Unicorn.  Carl lets out a huge roar as he lunges one last time at his soon to be dinner.  Just then another magical thing happened, Fluffy the unicorn started morphing.  Fluffy started shrinking!  His horn vanished inside his head as he turned into a good size fish!!
Carl the bear, in complete shock looks around at the warm white river rapids flowing around him.  He notices the schools of fish speeding right by him.  Instincts kick in.  Carl has become a wild bear at last.  Demetrius the owl smiles down at his new friend.  For the wise owl knows his friend will survive in the deep wilderness.
